Dr. Heather Short was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She attended two years of undergraduate school at Michigan State University before transferring to Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. She earned both her BSA and MS from Murray State and taught as a graduate assistant at Murray's Bachelors Animal Health Technology degree program. She entered Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in Auburn, Alabama in August of 2002, just 2 days after marrying her husband Dean!!! Whilst at Auburn she was involved in the Omega Tau Sigma fraternity and participated in various professional organizations. Her last two months of school were spent at Sequim Animal Hospital as a preceptorship. In May of 2006, following graduation, Dean, Heather, their 3 dogs and 2 cats packed up and moved across the country to Port Angeles where they now own land and a small home. In April of 2008, Dean & Heather welcomed their first daughter, Ainsley Isis, into the world and are thrilled being new parents. Heather's professional interests include bovine and small ruminant medicine and small animal medicine and surgery. She is a current member of both the AVMA and the WSVMA. She is a non-voting member of the Sequim Dog Park Board of Directors.
